BE THE APPLE OF GOD’S EYE IN 2007

A few years ago, a group of salesmen went to regional sales convention in Chicago. The convention lasted all week, and all the salesmen had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner.

As they hurried to the airport to catch their return flight, they rushed down the airport's corridor with their briefcases in hand. In their rush, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table, which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all continued running so they would make their plane.

All but one; he stopped after running a few more yards, took a deep breath, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned. He told his buddies to go on without him, waved goodbye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor.

He was glad he did. The 16-year-old girl running the apple cart was totally blind. She was softly crying, tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one stopping and no one to care for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of the apples had become battered and bruised; these he set aside in another basket. When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl, "Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did.

Are you okay?" She nodded through her tears. He continued on with, "I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly." As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him, "Mister..." He paused and turned to look back into those blind eyes. She continued, "Are you Jesus?"

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his soul: "Are you Jesus?" Do people mistake you for Jesus?

That's our call, is it not? To be so much like Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world (shopping, working, reacting to others that are serving us) that is blind to His love, life and grace.

If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would. Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church. It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day. You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked you and me up on a hill called Calvary and paid in full for our damaged fruit.

Let us live like we are worth the price He paid. Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.God bless you!

Our lives and the lives we touch will be enhanced as we accept the challenge to be seen as Jesus in all we do in 2007. May we share the love of Jesus each day of our new year and encourage souls to receive Christ as their Savior. Likewise, may we be an encouragement and help to fellow Christians as they continue their journey in God. Thanks for sharing with us Patty.

What I Received For Christmas #457

WHAT I RECEIVED FOR CHRISTMAS

Wow! I am blessed this year to have the knowledge of Jesus Christ. I know for sure that if I were to die today that I would be with Jesus because I have confessed my sins and he has forgiven me and he lives in my heart today.

It has been wonderful to see all the celebrations as we sing and rejoice about Jesus this month. There have been live nativity scenes, cantatas and plays, manager scenes and many other things that bring our thoughts to Jesus, which is what this season is all about. With all the commercialization to pump up sales using everything but Jesus it is refreshing to join family and friends in our homes and church and remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.

I know this may not be the day or date that Jesus was born but we don’t worship the date. We with the angels in heaven take time to rejoice that a Savior was born to take away the sins of the world and we are blessed to have this shared with us. It is a thrill to know God cared for us and shared His son Jesus with us.

Praise the Lord! I received many things for Christmas but the best gift is the love of God, and the love of my family, and friends. Things are good and I love them but being blessed to have all of my family together was the best gift. On Christmas day thanks to my nephew, my mother arrived from Ohio and is spending time with me as I write. Wow! This is a special treat; I never dreamed of having my mother in my home for Christmas. It’s been a long time since we spent Christmas together. Normally, we go see her on Thanksgiving and don’t fight the bad weather that she normally has in Ohio at Christmas time.

You know, God is so good to me; I don’t deserve all that he bestows upon me. I do thank Him for His love, His care, and His mercy. I don’t know why anyone would want to go a moment without Jesus in their heart. It makes me want to sing the kids song I was taught many years ago. “Into my heart, into my heart, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, Come in today, Come in to stay, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.” As I watch children sing the songs of Christmas, it is so precious to see them pouring their heart out to our Lord.

So, in closing, I say, thank you Lord for your blessings on me, thank you Lord for saving my soul, thank you Lord for making me whole, thank you Lord for my family and friends, thank you Lord for allowing me to minister and share your love with others. May I never forget to lift you higher as I praise and worship you in the days ahead? In the year ahead remember Jesus is the reason for the season, yes, every season. The right season for Jesus is every day, 365 days a year.

Is There A "W" In Christmas #456

SURFING WITH JESUS # 456121806
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
gene@SurfingwithJesus.com.

IS THERE A “W” IN CHRISTMAS

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peacefulexperience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations...extensive cardwriting, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending

Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the preciousfamily moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas. My son,Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season fora six year old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for his school's"Winter Pageant." I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd be working thenight of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spokewith his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress rehearsal themorning of the presentation. All parents unable to attend thatevening were welcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholasseemed happy with the compromise.

So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room,I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats.
As I waited, the students were led into the room.
Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song.

Because the public school system had long stopped referring to theholiday as "Christmas," I didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment...songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakesand good cheer. So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love,"I was slightly taken aback by its bold title.

Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzymittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads. Thosein the front row - center stage - held up large letters, one by one,to spell out the title of the song.

As the class would sing, "C is for Christmas," a child would hold up theletter C. Then, "H is for Happy," and on and on, until each child holdingup his portion had presented the complete message, "Christmas Love."

The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her;a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside down -totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W". The audience of 1stthrough 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she hadno idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her"W".

Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughtercontinued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together.A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In that instant,we understood the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holidayin the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for ourfestivities.

For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear:"CHRISTWAS LOVE" And, I believe, He still is!!!

God certainly does work in mysterious ways!!!

HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS

Bright Lights #455

SURFING WITH JESUS # 455121306
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
gene@SurfingwithJesus.com.

BRIGHT LIGHTS

This time of year everyone smiles as they look at the bright lights around our homes and our communities. These lights make everyone smile and beam from ear to ear. We are so happy that we tend to be kind and cheerful all month long. It is amazing how just a few lights can change our actions as we deal with people in crowded traffic and busy stores as we rush around to find that perfect gift to give to everyone.

As I ponder on this excitement I can only imagine how happy God is when he sees his children happy and excited about Jesus. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord, I pray we will share the story of Jesus and his love with this busy world in which we live.

Let me share a story that took place yesterday. My mother whom will be 85 next Monday went to the store to get some things for her home. During the busy time of day in her town her car broke down in the middle of the street. By the time she got out of her car two men jumped out and offered to help her. These men pushed her car out of the road and assisted her in getting her car towing service to come to help her. One of the men had to leave but the other one refused to leave her until help arrived.

In the next few minutes they began to talk and he ask if she went to church. She told him where she attended. Then, he went further and asks her if she knew Jesus. She told him she accepted Jesus in her heart when she was nine. In the midst of this entire struggle the bright lights continue to shine and everyone continues to be in a hurry but this young man took time to share Jesus. I’m so thankful my mother knows the Lord, but I’m excited that a total stranger took time for a little lady out in the cold with a need.

I like to imagine that if my mother had need of Jesus that the angels in heaven would have rejoiced and brighter lights than any on this earth would have burst forth because a soul was saved and returned to the Lord.

This was a great experience for this young man and my mother. I can only imagine this young man as he witnesses to someone else this Christmas season and he leads him or her to our Savior as they accept Jesus in their heart. I can feel the excitement and joy in the air as they rejoice together with a pure heart before God. In closing I pray you will be a bright light shinning for Jesus this Christmas season.

A New Beginning #454

SURFING WITH JESUS # 454120506
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
gene@SurfingwithJesus.com.

A NEW BEGINNING

Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ. This birth brought a new beginning to mankind; it would turn the world upside down. No event since the creation of man has ever had such a dynamic effect on this earth. God came to earth in the flesh and would be called Jesus. From this humble beginning in a lowly manager without fanfare in the city of Bethlehem a child came forth to bring redemption to all who would receive Him.

This child, soon to become a young man did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Man was looking for a King to set upon a throne to lead them and to reign. When King Herod heard these things he was troubled and demanded the chief priest and scribes tell him where Christ should be born.

When Herod saw he was mocked by the wise men not returning and telling him where the child was; he was angry and slew all the children in Bethlehem and the costal area that were under two years of age. Yes, Christ birth created quite a stir in our world and this was just the beginning of his impact to mankind.

Christ came to earth and fulfilled his purpose, as he became the sacrifice that would be acceptable to cover all our sins. Man would no longer continue to bring the animals as a sacrifice because Christ blood replaced this as he paid the price of redemption for lost man.

In this Christmas season, if you have not asked God to forgive you of your sins, you can receive the greatest gift ever offered to mankind by repenting and asking God to forgive you of your sins. Receive Christ into your heart and accept him as your Lord and Savior. This new beginning in Christ will allow you to rejoice with the angels in heaven because a sinner has returned to God.

A LETTER FROM GOD TO HIS CHILDREN #453

SURFING WITH JESUS

Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.

A LETTER FROM GOD TO HIS CHILDREN

Dear Children:

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't actually born during this time of the year and that it was some of you're predecessors who decided to celebrate My birthday on what was actually a time of pagan festival. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth just, GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Now, having said that let Me go on.

If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santa’s and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can & may remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching explaining who I am in relation to you & what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list. Choose something from it.

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.

3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up. It will be nice hearing from you again.

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.

5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.

6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile it could make the difference. Also, you might consider supporting the local Hot-Line: they talk with people like that every day.

7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one. Then stop shopping there on Sunday. If the store didn't make so much money on that day they'd close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families.

8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary, especially one who takes My love & Good News to those who have never heard My name. You may already know someone like that.

9. Here's a good one. There are individuals & whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them (and I suspect you don't) buy some food & a few gifts & give them to the Marines, the Salvation Army or some other charity that believes in Me & they will make the delivery for you.

10. Finally if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine.

P.S. Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me & do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above & get to work; time is short. I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love and remember, I LOVE YOU. Thanks to several of you for this one.

God’s love shown thru you is the greatest Christmas gift you can give to anyone. Remember, God is love and as you share his love you receive much more from him than you could ever give to someone you bless with your love.

TWO WOLVES #452

SURFING WITH JESUS # 452111806

TWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:

"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Be thankful for the golden nuggets we can gain from our grandparents. Respect for our elderly will enhance our life as we learn from their experiences in life. These golden tidbits will keep us in line with God’s word and help us grow and be nurtured in His love.

Quilt of Holes #451

SURFING WITH JESUS # 451111706
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
gene@SurfingwithJesus.com.

QUILT OF HOLES

As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls. Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles; an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.

But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in every day life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.

I glanced around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened. My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.

Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise.

My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me.

And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was. I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light. An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with wide eyes.

Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, "Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles.

Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than there was of you."

May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through!

God determines who walks into your life.... it’s up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go."

YOU PUT THE DEVIL OUT, BUT YOU LET HIM LEAVE HIS BAGS!

You got out of a bad relationship because it was bad, but you are still resentful, and angry (you let the devil leave his bags).

You got out of financial debt, but you still can't control the desire to spend on frivolous things (you let the devil leave his bags).

You got out of a bad habit or addiction, but you still long to try it just one more time (you let the devil leave his bags).

You said, I forgive you, but you can't seem to forget and have peace with that person (you let the devil leave his bags).

You told your unequally yoked boyfriend/girlfriend that it was over, but you still continue to call (you let the devil leave his bags)

You got out of that horribly oppressive job, but you're still trying to sabotage the company after you've left (you let the devil leave his bags).

You cut off the affair with that married man/woman, but you still lust after him/her (you let the devil leave his bags).

You broke off your relationship with that hurtful, abusive person, but you are suspicious and distrusting of every new person you meet (you let the devil leave his bags).

You decided to let go of the past hurts from growing up in an unstable family environment, yet you believe you are unworthy of love from others and you refuse to get attached to anyone (you let the devil leave his bags).

When you put the Devil out, Please make sure he takes his bags.

Happiness keeps you sweet, Trials keep you strong, Sorrows keep you human, Failures keeps you humble, Success keeps you glowing, but only God Keeps you going!

A BIRD OUT OF A CAGE #449

SURFING WITH JESUS #449111106

A BIRD OUT OF A CAGE

I feel like a bird out of a cage. I'm free! It feels so good to be free to write and send mail today. It reminds me of the night we waited and waited and waited in Viet Nam to take our flight and return to our homeland.

I will never forget when the pilot came over the box and said, "We have now cleared Viet Nam airspace, we are headed home." Wow, what a thrill! After spending a year in a land you had never heard of and with people you had never dreamed of meeting, I was coming home to a land and people I longed to see especially my lovely wife who had faithfully kept me going with her letters, tapes, and packages all year long.

I guess you could say I have been in a cave and felt I was going to explode if my computer didn't get going again so I could share the love of God. I also wanted so much to say thank you to all Veterans for serving and making it possible to have this freedom I have today to once again write what is on my heart as I seek God for what to write and share with you.

You are special and I want to thank you for being part of my life. God is so good, I have no patience with this equipment as my family will tell you but it is the avenue God has provided to share his love and let you know just how much he cares for you each day.

Although this is late, I just want to say thank you Lord for your blessings and allowing this bird to be free. What is freedom? Time will not permit me to share all but to have the freedom to choose to worship God, to raise our family, to move around, to talk and not fear for our life as we share Jesus, this and more is what freedom is for me today.

It breaks my heart when I get mail from those of you who share you don't have this freedom and you tell me about those who are being persecuted and killed for sharing Jesus. It is so sad to know that many Christians have to hide to worship and dare not tell even your family in order to save your life. I can't image this type of life but one thing that comes thru as you share is that it is worth it all because you are free in Jesus.

One of these days it won't be necessary to thank you veterans for giving of your time, your energy, your life because we will all be free as a bird when we move around heaven and that God for the victory we have in him.

Have a wonderful day and never forget to remember our veterans. Some gave some, some gave all and some are still giving so that you might be free. Showing a veteran respect can be done simply by saying "Thank you."

1st John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

WHILE IT'S ON MY MIND

There have been a lot of deaths lately that have hit close to home. Of course, when any friend or love one dies it touches us in a different way than someone we don't know. In these times we are lost for words and have difficulty knowing what to say. Just what does one do you may ask? Well, I have found that the most important thing is just being there. Caring enough to listen and be available shows greater love than you may ever know.

So, many young people are dying in accidents or having health problems that take them away from us at such a youthful age. Losing a soldier from your community and seeing the pain that goes with it just opens our eyes to how short life may be.

Recently when we lost our second student from our high school in just a few days one remarked that a local pastor said he had accepted Jesus. Accepting Jesus is vital at any age and serving Jesus is what it is all about. This is why I always close with 1John 1:9 each week. I want anyone who reads to be aware that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

When we don't understand things that happen in life we can turn to our Lord and know he is the one constant that we can depend on as we struggle with life. Join me in Psalm 71:1-5

1. In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
2. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
3. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
4. Deliver, me, Oh my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and and cruel man.
5. For thou are my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.

Thank you Lord for being my continual hope and trust. In all you face today, this week, this season let these verses be on your heart and mind to direct you as you share your love and the love of Jesus in all that is placed on your plate.

P.S. Several of you noticed there have been no mailings the last few days. I pray for Surfing with Jesus requests each day even though you may not hear from me. My computer has been down and is still down as I write but our prayers are continual.

PRESCRIBED BY THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

The next time you feel like God can't use you, just remember...

Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritian woman was divorced, more than once
Zacceheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer...and
Lazarus was dead!
Now! No more excuses!
God can use you to your full potential
Besides you aren't the message,
you are just the Messenger.
In the Circle of God's love,
God is waiting to use your
Full Potential.

Think About It!

1. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
2. Dear God, I have a problem, it's Me.
3. Growing old is inevitable. Growing UP is Optional.
4. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.
5. Silence is often misinterpreted but never Misquoted.
6. Do the math...Count your blessings.
7. Faith is the ability to not panic.
8. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging.
9. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, Don't worry.
10 As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling Home everyday.
11 Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be Bent out of shape.
12 The most important things in your house are the people.
13 When we get tangled up in our problems, be still.
God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
14 A Grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15 He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

Have a great day!!! The SON is shining and He can certainly use you!

DANCING WITH GOD #445

DANCING WITH GOD

When I meditated on the word, Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance."
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.
This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.
If God has done anything for you in your life,
please share this message with someone else,
for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.
There is no cost but a lot of rewards;
so let's continue to pray for one another.
And I Hope You Dance !

BE HUMBLE LIKE CHRIST #444

BE HUMBLE LIKE CHRIST

Some people live only to please themselves and to make a good impression on others. When we work together caring for others we demonstrate Christ example of putting others first and we create unity and enhance our joy as we serve. Join me with Paul in your Bible a few moments.

Philippians 2
1If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Selfish ambition (vainglory) can ruin an individual, family, or church but true humility can build it. When we are humble we have a true perspective of our self. It does not mean we are to put our self down; but we are to lay aside selfishness and treat others with respect and courtesy. When we consider others' interest as more important than our own we link with Christ who was the true example of serving with joy.

Some people excuse selfishness, pride, or evil by claiming their "rights." They think, "I can cheat on this test; after all, I deserve to pass", or "I can spend all this money on myself...I worked for it,"or "I can have this abortion, I have a right to control my own body." As believers we should have a different attitude; one that enables us to lay aside our rights to serve others. If we follow Christ, we will want to live as he lived. We should develop his attitude of humility as we serve, even when we are not likely to get recognition for our efforts.

I ask you today? Are you selfishly clinging to your rights or, are you serving with joy? I pray we will be humble in Christ as we serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with singing with joy in all our endeavors to uplift His name.

JOY IN SUFFERING

I'm trying to write what God places on my heart today. I've been studying Paul and his writings to the Philippians. Paul is something else. Here he is in jail and he still has joy in his heart as he writes about these believers and says in Phillippians 1:3 "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."

This is a personal letter with Paul thanking them for providing for him when he had a need. Paul is going thru a period of suffering but he got excited when he thought about these folks doing good as God laid him on their heart. God still does this today. God's spirit touches our hearts to do good and it is up to us to follow it to do what God lays on our heart.

In Proverbs 3:6 the writer said "In all thy (your) ways acknowledge him and he shall (will) direct thy(your) path." Proverbs 9:10 says "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might..." If Paul had allowed circumstances to take over, he would have had no joy. Suffering comes to everyone at one time or another but in our suffering we need to think of Paul and have joy knowing that God will come thru.

Another scripture in James 4:17 says "Therefore to him that knoweth (knows) to do good and doeth it not (doesn't do it), to him it is sin. It is easy to get caught up in circumstances and go down the wrong path and lose our joy. However, as we grow in Christ and desire to be more and more in Him; we find more and more joy in our journey in Him. It is exciting when we not only listen but heed the voice of the Lord as the Holy Spirit directs us.

When we reach this point in our spiritual growth we like Paul can say "I thank my God upon every rememberance of you." (Philipians 1:3).

1John 1:9 "If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

IT'S A GOD THING #442

God's plan for the ages is that man be saved and return unto him. It is a God thing and worthy of our attention as we are given our breath each day. God's will is for man to not only return unto him but to lift our voices in adoration and praise.

1Thessalonians 5:12-25

12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16Rejoice evermore.
17Pray without ceasing.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Quench not the Spirit.
20Despise not prophesyings.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Wow! This is powerful stuff this morning. God's will is for us is to rejoice, pray, and give thanks at all times and in all ways for all things in every way. Do you understand? It is a God thing!

As you live each day that yoke shall be destroyed as you pray for a release of faith in your life. Pray for a faith day in your life, a faith day in your family, and a faith day in your church. God's word is a weapon against all opposition in our faith. With God in your heart and in your life you have the victory that Satan and his angels cannot withstand.

Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Oh, Praise the Lord, he is here right now, allow him to touch you with his word. Take a moment where you are at and allow God's word to penetrate your heart. Allow him to strengthen you and speak peace. Be still and know he is God; it is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are the sheep of his pastures; enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Hallelujah, it is a God thing right now; this very moment in your life and in your heart.

AT ABOUT THIS TIME (Thank you Lord)

September 13, 1964, 42 years ago, at about this time, I was tired, on my way to get some sleep after attending church all day at the General Assembly of the Church in Cleveland, TN. All at once, a couple I had met in the spring at Bible Training Camp who had now run into me for the third time this day said there she comes the young lady we want you to meet. I had told them I was not interested but now I had no choice.

With first sight of this young lady I was in love. She was what I had prayed for and 7 months later I married her and fall in love with her more and more each day. She is Mavis Edwina Rominger Dasher, my lovely wife of 41 years and she gets sweeter and sweeter each day.

I had one big problem when I went to introduce her to my father the next day. I couldn't say her name so she had to do it for me. Now that it is changed to Dasher, I can say it quite well.

This young lady has endured faithfully with me thru a military tour to include a trip to Viet Nam. She has put many hours into my education to see I completed my degrees. She has shared with me faithfully in ministry making many moves. She has brought two lovely children into this world and they are blessed to have such a Godly mother.

I use to be her pride and joy but then two grandkids came along and they became her pride and joy. Now, that they are bigger, we have all given way to her new pride and joy "little bit," her little dog. Yes, dear, I've been replaced by your dog.

I know I'm a little crazy with this writing and she normally gets to proof it but guess what with my pride and joy out on my shoulders she will receive this in a e-mail just like you.

I guess you know by now I am proud God came thru right on time for me and blessed me with a woman after his heart as I also desire to be. There have been valleys and there have been peaks but with Jesus we continue on in him and our love is blessed with his peace.

To those of you who are still looking for the love of your life, trust God, please don't get ahead of him. He will come thru for you on his time schedule. My daughter has told her mother and I she could have been married if she wanted to but she is waiting for God. In God there is safety in love and marriage. Don't rush God, don't leap or jump just because you can. There are too many failed marriages. Waiting for God will enhance you not being among this tragic failure we see too often today.

James 4:8 says: Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

1John 4 states: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1John 4:16 And we have known him and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

All my life I have doodled on paper, napkins, etc. "God is Love," and "Love is of God." Lord I do thank you for your love; you are the love of my life. And Lord, thank you for my wonderful wife. You have provided me her love and we desire to serve you and look together for your soon return to take us with you to heaven.

PERSEVERE

I have had this thought on my mind for several days now and can't seem to escape it,To persevere. First I've had all kinds of trouble spelling it. Maybe that in itself is my thought that we keep on until we have completed our course.

In all of life's up's and down's when you know God has called you to a task, determine you are going to complete it. Though discouragement and opposition may come the rewards of a job well done is worth your effort.

Nehemiah 4:6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

One commentator writes that the rebuilding of the wall progressed well because the people had set their hearts and minds on accomplishing the task. Nehemiah constantly combined prayer with preparation. His people trusted God and at the same time kept vigilant watch over what had been entrusted to them. When we pray and look for the role God wants us to have in our projects, we show him we are serious as we combine prayer with thought and preparation.

God is in the business of working through his people to accomplish the seemingly impossible. God shapes people with personality characteristics, experiences, and training that prepare them for his purpose, and usually the people have no idea what God has in store for them.

God prepared Nehemiah to accomplish one of the Bible's impossible tasks. He was a common man in a unique position. He had little power, but he had great influence and was trusted by the king. He was also a man of God concerned about the fate of Jerusalem. From the beginning to the end Nehemiah prayed for God's help. He never hesitated to ask God to remember him. In closing his writing in Nehemiah 13:31b he says remember me, O my God, for good.

I often use the thought of "little is much when God is in it." You may not feel you have any unique abilities but there are two ways you can persever and become useful to God. First talk to God, tell him your heart, your dreams, your desires. Second, be a person that not only talks to God but walks with him daily. Then, put what you learn from God and his word into action as you glorify God in all you do. Who knows the next impossible mission from God may be entrusted to you. Just remember that you need to acknowledge him in all yours ways and thereby he will direct your path.

(Some thoughts are from the Tyndale Life Application Commentary.)

SEEK THE FRESH ANOINTING

Open your heart to Me and I will pour in fragrant oil.
Lift to Me your cup and I will fill it to overflowing
with the waters of life.
Bring to Me all your needs and I will supply abundantly
out of My fullness.

I am not a man that I should be limited, but I long to
give and to give again and again.
This is not a matter of My granting to you one great
supply to be stored up little by little as needed,
but I give to you a fresh outpouring as each need
arises, yea, and before the need arises, that you
may prepare in advance and that in each emergency
you may have no lack.

I give to you in order that you may serve Me as a
channel of blessing to others.
I know those who shall come, and I know the specific
need of each individual case, and thus I give you
exactly what will be suitable for each one.
So be diligent to come, for why should I send anyone
to you if your are not prepared?
And if you are prepared, I will not fail to send to
you the very ones for whom I have made the provision.

You need not seek them out. How, verily, can you
know?
But I, Myself shall send whom I choose and you shall
marvel.
Thus shall you surely know that it is My work, yea,
the work of God the Father.
This is doing the will of God.

As it is written, "He that doeth the will of God
abideth forever" (1 John 2:17)

Service to Me by the will of the flesh is temporal,
but the doing of the will of God is eternal.
And this is the will of God, that you be about the
Father's business, that you work the works of Him that
has called you and now sends you, even
as did Jesus when He walked among men.

Leave all else to Me.

Seek the fresh anointing and I will do the rest.

THE MOST POWERFUL BOOK IN AMERICA

They lie on the table side by side
The Holy Bible and the TV guide.
One is well worn and cherished with pride.
Not the Bible, but the TV guide.

One is used daily to help folks decide.
No, not the Bible, but the TV guide.
As the pages are turned, what shall they see.
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV.

Then confusion reigns, they can't all agree
On what they should watch on the old TV.
So they open the book in which they confide,
No, not the Bible, but the TV guide.

The Word of God is seldom read,
Maybe a verse as they fall into bed.
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be;
Not from reading the Bible, from watching TV.

So then back to the table side by side,
Lie the Holy Bible and the TV guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word,
The plan of Salvation is seldom heard.

But forgiveness of sin, so full and free,
Is found in the Bible, not on TV.
Choose which book will rule your family.

MY HEART'S DESIRE

Lord give me thy word for your people today. Grant me the wisdom, the knowledge, and the love to share what we need from you today in Jesus name I pray. As you have often seen me write, my sole desire as I write each week is to uplift Christ, fellow Christians, and share the love of Jesus with others. It is wonderful to know in our search for the right thing to say we have Jesus to show us the way.

Often, I share ideas that you may not need that day but I have found it is for someone as they search for God. When it isn't for you, join me in praying for the one that it is for that day. Who knows it may not be for you today but it may be food and strength for the future.

God is so awesome, I believe as the word says that if we hunger and thirst for righteousness, we will be filled. Do you remember a time God filled you? It's so refreshing when we know God have given us the wisdom, love, knowledge, or the caring heart we have need of at a given moment.

As I write tonight, I am hungry for God's word to penetrate your heart and my heart and lead us forward into the light he has for our path. My hearts desire is to make it to heaven. This is my goal but I always want to help you and others find their way to God and continue on this journey as we complete the commission he has placed before us before he takes us home.

Proverbs 19:8 tells us "He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good." This may sound selfish but I don't think so because if you don't love your own soul, you will not be able to help me or others find their way to Jesus.

Proverbs 19:16 says "He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die." To obey what God teaches us in his word is self-preserving. I don't understand why one would be self-destructive and disobey God's word.

I will close with Proverbs 19:23 as the writer shares "The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall be satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil. Both good and bad may come our way in life but having the fear of the Lord gives us the strength to endure until the end of the way. It will be wonderful one day when we see Jesus and hear him say well done thou good and faithful servant. I pray for God's direction in your life. If we never meet on this earth, I pray we join together in praises to God when we meet in heaven.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

INSIDE OUR GOLF BAG
By Billy Smith (My good friend)

For our devotion today, rather than going to the Bible, let us look inside our golf bag.

God uses numbers in his word for reasons
The study of numbers in the Bible is called dematria

For today let us begin with our number one club
It is called the driver
Everyone pull out your driver our number one club
Number one in the Bible means unity
The only one
There is no other
It means first place
So when we pull out the number one club, it will always remind us that God is number one in our lives.

Also when we think of the driver (number one) we think of power
It is suppose to get us at least 2/3 of the journey of each hole
It is the most powerful club in our bag
Therefore when we think of the driver we think of how powerful that
God is He is Omnipotent, all powerful
Some times we forget the power of our father when we are going through those difficult times in our lives.
We need God to get us past the Kudzu in our lives, and back into the fairway (straight and narrow)

Also… the driver (no.1) sets the tone of how the hole you are playing starts out
If you don’t hit it straight and long, then we will have to pay the consequences
That’s how it is with God, if we are not straight with him and trust that he will lead us and guide through all obstacles, then we have consequences of life.

Also…. Last but not least
The driver has the biggest head of all the clubs
And there is a reason
So that the sweet spot can be distributed equally on the face of the club
So that no matter where we strike the ball, it is a good shot
Therefore we call this a forgiving club
Ain’t that just God
Always forgiving even when we miss
Hit’em straight--- Billy Smith

BIKE RIDE WITH GOD #435

BIKE RIDE WITH GOD

When I first met Christ
It seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride,
But it was a tandem bike,
And I noticed that Christ
Was in the back helping me pedal.

I don't know just when it was that
He suggested we change places,
But life has not been the same since.

When I had control, I knew the way,
It was rather boring, but predictable...
It was the shortest distance between two points.

But when He took the lead,
He knew delightful long cuts,
Up mountains, and through rocky places,
At breakneck speeds,
It was all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness,
He said, "Pedal"

I worried and was anxious and asked,
"Where are you taking me?"
He laughed and didn't answer,
And I started to learn to trust.

I forgot my boring life
And entered into the adventure.
And when I'd say, "I'm scared,"
He'd lean back and touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed.
Gifts of healing, acceptance, and joy.
He said, "Give the gifts away;
They're extra baggage, too much weight."

So I did, I gave them to the people we met,
And I found that in giving I received,
And still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him, at first, In control of my life.
I thought He'd wreck it;
But He knows bike secrets,
Knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners,
Knows how to jump to clear high rocks,
Knows how to fly to shorten scary passages.

And I am learning to shut up
and pedal in the strangest places,
And I'm beginning to enjoy the view
And the cool breeze on my face
With my delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore,
He just smiles and says...
"Pedal."
(A special thanks to Charlotte for sharing this with us.)

WE ARE ALIVE (QUICKENED) WITH CHRIST #434

WE ARE ALIVE (QUICKENED) WITH CHRIST

Ephesians 2
1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Paul is talking about our old sinful nature. Here he emphasizes that we do not need to live any longer under sin's power. The penalty of sin and its power over us was destroyed by Christ on the cross. Through faith in Christ we stand acquitted, "not guilty" before God. God does not make us slaves or robots or someone that can't think on their own. We will still be tempted to sin and return to our old ways. The difference is that before we became Christians we were dead in sin and slaves to our sinful nature, but now we are alive (quickened) with Christ. Praise the Lord! Jesus paid this price for anyone who will call upon him and receive this wonderful gift of Salvation.

When someone gives you a gift you don't say, "How much do I owe you," the appropriate response to a gift is "thank you." Yet how often do Christians, even after they have been given the gift of Salvation, feel obligated to try to work their own way to God. Our Salvation is a gift, we should respond with gratitude, praise, and joy.

We become Christians through God's unmerited grace, not as the result of any effort, ability, or act of service on our part. However, when we are quickened and become alive in Christ, I believe we will desire to serve Christ and share our knowledge of his love with others and lead them to this same life we have in Jesus. We are not saved merely to sit and enjoy our gift but to rejoice even as the angels do when someone else has returned to God and received his son Jesus as their Lord, Savior, and Master. Herein, the spiritually dead are made alive and become a new creation desiring to share and receive the goodness of God.
