WHILE IT'S ON MY MIND #448

WHILE IT'S ON MY MIND

There have been a lot of deaths lately that have hit close to home. Of course, when any friend or love one dies it touches us in a different way than someone we don't know. In these times we are lost for words and have difficulty knowing what to say. Just what does one do you may ask? Well, I have found that the most important thing is just being there. Caring enough to listen and be available shows greater love than you may ever know.

So, many young people are dying in accidents or having health problems that take them away from us at such a youthful age. Losing a soldier from your community and seeing the pain that goes with it just opens our eyes to how short life may be.

Recently when we lost our second student from our high school in just a few days one remarked that a local pastor said he had accepted Jesus. Accepting Jesus is vital at any age and serving Jesus is what it is all about. This is why I always close with 1John 1:9 each week. I want anyone who reads to be aware that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

When we don't understand things that happen in life we can turn to our Lord and know he is the one constant that we can depend on as we struggle with life. Join me in Psalm 71:1-5

1. In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
2. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
3. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
4. Deliver, me, Oh my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and and cruel man.
5. For thou are my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.

Thank you Lord for being my continual hope and trust. In all you face today, this week, this season let these verses be on your heart and mind to direct you as you share your love and the love of Jesus in all that is placed on your plate.

P.S. Several of you noticed there have been no mailings the last few days. I pray for Surfing with Jesus requests each day even though you may not hear from me. My computer has been down and is still down as I write but our prayers are continual.

PRESCRIBED BY THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

The next time you feel like God can't use you, just remember...

Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritian woman was divorced, more than once
Zacceheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer...and
Lazarus was dead!
Now! No more excuses!
God can use you to your full potential
Besides you aren't the message,
you are just the Messenger.
In the Circle of God's love,
God is waiting to use your
Full Potential.

Think About It!

1. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
2. Dear God, I have a problem, it's Me.
3. Growing old is inevitable. Growing UP is Optional.
4. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.
5. Silence is often misinterpreted but never Misquoted.
6. Do the math...Count your blessings.
7. Faith is the ability to not panic.
8. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging.
9. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, Don't worry.
10 As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling Home everyday.
11 Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be Bent out of shape.
12 The most important things in your house are the people.
13 When we get tangled up in our problems, be still.
God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
14 A Grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15 He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

Have a great day!!! The SON is shining and He can certainly use you!

DANCING WITH GOD #445

DANCING WITH GOD

When I meditated on the word, Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance."
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.
This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.
If God has done anything for you in your life,
please share this message with someone else,
for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.
There is no cost but a lot of rewards;
so let's continue to pray for one another.
And I Hope You Dance !

BE HUMBLE LIKE CHRIST #444

BE HUMBLE LIKE CHRIST

Some people live only to please themselves and to make a good impression on others. When we work together caring for others we demonstrate Christ example of putting others first and we create unity and enhance our joy as we serve. Join me with Paul in your Bible a few moments.

Philippians 2
1If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Selfish ambition (vainglory) can ruin an individual, family, or church but true humility can build it. When we are humble we have a true perspective of our self. It does not mean we are to put our self down; but we are to lay aside selfishness and treat others with respect and courtesy. When we consider others' interest as more important than our own we link with Christ who was the true example of serving with joy.

Some people excuse selfishness, pride, or evil by claiming their "rights." They think, "I can cheat on this test; after all, I deserve to pass", or "I can spend all this money on myself...I worked for it,"or "I can have this abortion, I have a right to control my own body." As believers we should have a different attitude; one that enables us to lay aside our rights to serve others. If we follow Christ, we will want to live as he lived. We should develop his attitude of humility as we serve, even when we are not likely to get recognition for our efforts.

I ask you today? Are you selfishly clinging to your rights or, are you serving with joy? I pray we will be humble in Christ as we serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with singing with joy in all our endeavors to uplift His name.

JOY IN SUFFERING #443

JOY IN SUFFERING

I'm trying to write what God places on my heart today. I've been studying Paul and his writings to the Philippians. Paul is something else. Here he is in jail and he still has joy in his heart as he writes about these believers and says in Phillippians 1:3 "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."

This is a personal letter with Paul thanking them for providing for him when he had a need. Paul is going thru a period of suffering but he got excited when he thought about these folks doing good as God laid him on their heart. God still does this today. God's spirit touches our hearts to do good and it is up to us to follow it to do what God lays on our heart.

In Proverbs 3:6 the writer said "In all thy (your) ways acknowledge him and he shall (will) direct thy(your) path." Proverbs 9:10 says "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might..." If Paul had allowed circumstances to take over, he would have had no joy. Suffering comes to everyone at one time or another but in our suffering we need to think of Paul and have joy knowing that God will come thru.

Another scripture in James 4:17 says "Therefore to him that knoweth (knows) to do good and doeth it not (doesn't do it), to him it is sin. It is easy to get caught up in circumstances and go down the wrong path and lose our joy. However, as we grow in Christ and desire to be more and more in Him; we find more and more joy in our journey in Him. It is exciting when we not only listen but heed the voice of the Lord as the Holy Spirit directs us.

When we reach this point in our spiritual growth we like Paul can say "I thank my God upon every rememberance of you." (Philipians 1:3).

1John 1:9 "If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
