Thank You Lord For The Rain

“Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 150:6

As I drove to work today, it was wet and cloudy, and I said where are you Lord? As I looked thru the mist and rain, I said “Oh, there you are Lord, you are everywhere.” It is wonderful to behold the beauty and handy work of God.

In the Life Application comments by Tyndale, the writer concludes when looking at this last verse of Psalms that “In a way, the book of Psalms parallels our spiritual journey through life. It begins by presenting us with two roads---the way to life and the way to death. If we choose God’s way to life, we still face both blessings and troubles, joy and grief, successes and obstacles.”

“Throughout it all, God is at our side, guiding, encouraging, comforting, and caring. As wise and faithful person’s life draws to an end, he or she realizes clearly that God’s road is the right road. Knowing this will cause us to praise God for leading us in the right direction and for assuring our place in the perfect world God has in store for those who have faithfully followed him.”

So, I praise the Lord for this rain and thank him for being by my side as I face this day ahead. He is here and I gladly lift my voice in adoration and thanksgiving as I enjoy life in our risen Savior Jesus Christ.

Remember:

1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

What a Day 537

What a Day

It’s up and at them at the break of dawn and off to school. Another beautiful day God has blessed me with. Let’s see we need to be out the door by 7 A.M., past the elementary school, and up the hill by 7:08, down the highway and to my first turn by 7:18, and at the school by 7:25. Well, we made it by 7:24. Grab your bag and lunch and greet fellow teachers and students as you head to the office and check in for the day.

Let the day begin with a smile, chit-chat with students and see what’s going on with them as one smiles and another is sleepy, and another can’t wait to greet their friends. Everyone is ready for a wonderful day at school. Well, most everyone.

How is your day? Are you ready to enjoy the day the Lord has blessed you with? I hope you are ready to go. As you continue with your day remember someone needs you today and by remembering the Lord thy God, thy creator, you are the answer to someone’s prayer as you go through your daily challenges. Stay in tune with the Lord and minister to each door that is open. One never knows what that door may be but as we continually pray without ceasing we will be prepared to love that soul that is in need.

Recently my wife felt the need to go visit a man who had but a few hours to live. She wanted to make certain he was ready to meet the Lord. When she arrived at this home she found him too far out of it to talk with him but his wife said he had repented and accepted the Lord. She was happy to hear this so she took time to read the Bible and sing to him and the family as they faced these last few moments together. Will you go?

You may say I can’t do that. You are right but when you are led by the Spirit of God, he will do it thru you and you will be fed as the Lord Ministers to the one in need. When God touches you don’t go tell your pastor or someone else to do it. God is speaking to you and you are the one that is responsible. It is an awesome feeling when you feel the joy of the Lord in your heart when you have been obedient to His voice. Sometimes it feels like you just got saved again.

So, what are you waiting on, keep on going with your day and allow the Lord to perhaps scare you to death when he touches you to do extraordinary things thru Him. God bless you and have a wonderful day in the Lord.

Remember:

1John 1:9 "If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrightousness."

Taste My Jesus 536

TASTE MY JESUS

At the University of Chicago Divinity School each year they have what is called 'Baptist Day.' On this day each one is to bring a lunch to be eaten outdoors in a grassy picnic area. Every 'Baptist Day' the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center.

One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich. Dr.Tillich spoke for two and one-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection the religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions.

After about 30 seconds, an old, dark skinned preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium. 'Docta Tillich, I got one question,' he said as all eyes turned toward him. He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it.

'Docta Tillich... CRUNCH, MUNCH 'My question is a simple question... CRUNCH, MUNCH... 'Now, I ain't never read them books you read...CRUNCH, MUNCH..' and I can't recite the Scriptures in the original Greek...CRUNCH, MUNCH ...' I don't know nothin' about Niebuhr and Heidegger...CRUNCH, MUNCH... He finished the apple. 'All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate . . . was it bitter or sweet?

Dr Tillich paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion: 'I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven't tasted your apple.' The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his crumpled paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, 'Neither have you tasted my Jesus.'

The 1,000 plus in attendance could not contain themselves. The auditorium erupted with applause and cheers. Dr. Tillich thanked his audience and promptly left the platform.

Have you tasted Jesus? Please pass this on Saints! Jesus has risen.... and He's coming back one day... Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. If you have, rejoice in the hope of the resurrection that your faith in Him brings. Psalm 34:8

"The Lord is gracious and full of compassion . . . . The Lord upholds all who fall and raises up all those who are bowed down." Psalm 145:8a

The Tea Cup #534

The Tea Cup

There was a couple who used to go to
England to shop in the beautiful stores. They both liked antiques and pottery and especially teacups. This was their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and the shop they visited had a beautiful teacup.

They said to the shop assistant, 'May we see that? We've never seen one quite so beautiful.' As the lady handed it over to them, the teacup spoke suddenly. 'You don't understand,' it said. 'I haven't always been a teacup. There was a time when I was red and I was clay. My master took me, rolled me, patted me over and over and I yelled out, ’Let me alone' but he only smiled, 'Not yet.'

'Then I was placed on a spinning wheel,' the teacup said, 'and suddenly I was spun around. 'Stop it! I'm getting dizzy!' I screamed. But the master only nodded and said, 'Not yet.'

Then he put me in the oven. I never felt such heat. I wondered why he wanted to burn me, and I yelled and knocked at the door. I could see him through the opening and I could read his lips as he shook his head, 'Not yet.'

Finally the door opened, he put me on the shelf, and I began to cool. 'There, that's better', I said. And he brushed and painted me all over. The fumes were horrible. I thought I would gag. 'Stop it, stop it!' I cried. He only nodded, 'Not yet.'

Then suddenly he put me back into the oven, not like the first one. This was twice as hot and I knew I would suffocate. I begged. I pleaded. I screamed. I cried. All the time I could see him through the opening nodding his head saying, 'Not yet.'

Then I knew there wasn't any hope. I would never make it. I was ready to give up. But the door opened and he took me out and placed me on the shelf. One hour later he handed me a mirror and I couldn't believe it was me. 'It's beautiful. I'm beautiful.'

'I want you to remember, then,' he said, 'I know it hurts to be rolled and patted, but if I had left you alone, you would have dried up.

I know it made you dizzy to spin around on the wheel, but if I had stopped, you would have crumbled.

I knew it hurt and was hot and disagreeable in the oven, but if I hadn't put you there, you would have cracked.

I know the fumes were bad when I brushed and painted you all over, but if I hadn't done that, you never would have hardened; you would not have had any color in your life.

And if I hadn't put you back in that second oven, you wouldn't survive for very long because the hardness would not have held.

Now you are a finished product. You are what I had in mind when I first began with you.

Moral:
God knows what He's doing for all of us. He is the potter and we are His clay. He will mold us so that we may be made into a flawless piece of work to fulfill His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Let this story remind you that God has a perfect plan for your life. He may need to place some obstacles in your life to strengthen your character, so that you may be strong in the days of greater adversity. Don't get discouraged when you feel like the heat of the struggle is going to burn you. God knows exactly when to pull you out and deliver you from that problem and when He does you will be much wiser and stronger than you were before.

God knows your inner strength and ability to be strong even in the midst of a problem.

Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. #533

“Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord." —Exodus 14:13

Exodus 14:13-14

13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14The LORD shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace.

Are you listening? Are you murmuring? Are you complaining?

The children of Israel were not listening to Moses and they continually told him how they were better off to die in Egypt than to suffer the death they were about to face. Even when God delivered th! em out of bondage they found it hard to listen.

These scriptures were written for our learning but have we gained anything from the Israelites experience? Today, we continue to murmur and complain just like they did. We try to work it out when we don’t have the strength to carry on.

Christian, listen the to Lord for he says to you today, “fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today.” The Lord will fight your battle and you need to hold your peace for the victory is the Lord’s.

Now, get up, get going, and take no thought of what may come your way today. Simply, “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” Oh! Praise the Lord, someone just did it and is rejoicing with their victory. Join them and see what the Lord will do for you too. He is an awesome God and I want to praise him right now for your victory. Halleluiah! Praise the Lord!

What Are You Doing with Your Dash?

What Are You Doing with Your Dash?

Once upon a time on a particular date and year you were born. At that moment life began for you and it will continue until your death on a particular date and year. Wow! What wisdom you may say. Now join me in a nearby graveyard and you will find some folks already have a marker showing their date of birth with a dash awaiting their death for it to be completed.

It is this dash I want to talk about. You are now on your journey in life and you have until this dash is completed to do both good and evil in this life. What are you doing with it only you can answer.

God gave His son Jesus as a gift of love to our world. Jesus came and with his dash gave His life so you may be free. When you repent of your sins and receive Salvation with your dash you began a spiritual life and began to share with others the love Jesus gave to you.

Jesus empowered you to bring these good tidings to a lost world. I like the verse in Isaiah 61:1 which says “The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.”

When Jesus was teaching in Nazareth Luke wrote in 4:17-19 “And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at libert y them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

We have a great opportunity to do good with our dash time. Love the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Find what God wants you to do and fill in your dash fulfilling it until he says it is finished.
