“Pray, Aim high and Stay focused”

There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat. He had an old rifle and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out hunting and kill some wild game for dinner. As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit. He shot at the rabbit and missed it. The rabbit ran away. Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel and missed it. The squirrel disappeared into a hole in a cottonwood tree. As he went further, he saw a large wild 'Tom' turkey in the tree, but he had only one bullet remaining. A voice spoke to him and said,

'Pray first, aim high and stay focused.’

However, at the same time, he saw a deer which was a better kill. He brought the gun down and aimed at the deer. But, then he saw a rattlesnake between his legs about to bite him, so he naturally brought the gun down further to shoot the rattlesnake. Still, the voice said again to him, 'I said 'Pray, Aim high and Stay focused.'

So, the man decided to listen to God's voice.

He prayed, then aimed the gun high up in the tree and shot the wild turkey. The bullet bounced off the turkey and killed the deer. The handle fell off the gun and hit the snake in the head and killed it. And, when the gun had gone off, it knocked him into a pond. When he stood up to look around, he had fish in all his pockets, a dead deer and a turkey to eat for his family. The snake (Satan) was dead simply because the man listened to God.

Moral of the story:

Pray first before you do anything, aim and shoot high in your goals, and stay focused on God. Never let others discourage you concerning your past. The past is exactly that, 'the past.' Live every day one day at a time and remember that only God knows our future and that he will not! Put you through any more than you can bear.
Do not look to man for your blessings, but look to the doors that only He has prepared in advance for you in your favor.
Wait, be still and patient: keep God first and everything else will follow.

Our Lord says to be careful only about one thing-our relationship to Him.

A special thanks to one of our readers for sharing this.

Remember: 1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

What a Treat for this Veteran

I have been sick all weekend. My wife ask me on Saturday night did she need to prepare to take my place in our Sunday service. I told her it would probably be good for her to prepare. She said you can go though and be with us in service. Of course I said okay.

Upon arriving at church we opened up and I went to the grave yard with our youth to put flags on our fence and on Veterans graves. We rushed back in had Sunday School. Then, the youth and young people had a surprise for me.

What a treat, my Sunday School teacher had written a nice writing thanking me for serving my country. His wife and children sang and signed a song which was a blessing to all. It means so much to have this current generation to remember.

At the front of the church was a nice poster with pictures including my picture. Everyone signed the poster that gave me a special greeting. What a treat.

And there is more. My wife had gathered pictures from the time I was sworn into the Army and followed my path to Ft Knox to Vietnam to Ft Hood Texas where our son was born. Everyone said I was so skinny then. “Those were the days.”

Yes, this was a special day for me and this thank you will long be remembered.

Now, its your time, take time today to say thank you to a Veteran, it may be a friend, a neighbor, a uncle, grandpa, dad, sister, mother etc. It is very special to have some one say thank you.

Veterans Day is Tuesday November, 11, 2008. It is honored on the eleventh hour, the eleventh day, and the eleventh day of each year.

Remember: 1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

True Word From Me 546

True Words From Me

It was October 1966; I was a newly wed of some 17 months. My wife and her mom and dad had brought me to the airport in Chattanooga, Tennessee for me to catch my first plane ride on my way to Viet Nam. It was now time to board and my wife was in tears and very emotional as was I. The stewardess asks what was wrong and I shared I was going to Viet Nam. She went to the pilot and came back and he said stay with her another 15 minutes, I’ll make up for it in flight.

This was a kindness that only a young soldier and his wife can really appreciate. This was a special thank you my wife and I will never forget. Did you know as we approach another Veterans Day in the USA the most important thing you can do for a soldier or a veteran and their family is to say thank you for serving.

Anytime I see a person serving our great nation I take time to say thank you for serving. Without these men and women you and I would not continue to have the freedoms we have as we are blessed to live in this great nation.

God has blessed our nation in so many ways and I want to take a moment to give honor, glory, and praise to our creator who makes all these things possible. America, we need to remember the Lord our God, our creator. In the days of our youth we called upon him and sought him as a nation. I am concerned as we have become a little older that we often fail to put him first in our activities and actions as a nation.

Why does this concern me? Because any nation that forgets God pays a price sooner or later. Look at Israel over the years, when they call upon God he is always there for them, when they turn away from him destruction has come their way.

America, stand up, stand up for Jesus in every way. This is the true way is continue to have God’s blessing on us as individuals and as a nation.

Remember: 1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Faith Can Move Mountains 545

Faith Can Move Mountains
(Author Unknown)

A small congregation in the foothills of the Great Smokies built a new sanctuary on a piece of land willed to them by a church member. Ten days before the new church was to open, the local building inspector informed the pastor that the parking lot was inadequate for the size of the building. Until the church doubled the size of the parking lot, they would not be able to use the new sanctuary.

Unfortunately, the church with its undersized lot had used every inch of their land except for the mountain against which it had been built. In order to build more parking spaces, they would have to move the mountain out of the back yard. Undaunted, the pastor announced the next Sunday morning that he would meet that evening with all members who had "mountain moving faith." They would hold a prayer session asking God to remove the mountain from the back yard and to somehow provide enough money to have it paved and painted before the scheduled opening dedication service the following week. At the appointed time, 24 of the congregation's 300 members assembled for prayer. They prayed for nearly three hours. At
ten o'clock the pastor said the final "Amen." "We'll open next Sunday as scheduled," he assured everyone. "God has never let us down before and I believe He will be faithful this time too."

The next morning as he was working in his study there came a loud knock at his door. When he called "come in," a rough looking construction foreman appeared, removing his hard hat as he entered. "Excuse me, Reverend. I'm from Acme Construction Company over in the next county. We're building a huge new shopping mall over there and we need some fill dirt. Would you be willing to sell us a chunk of that mountain behind the church? We'll pay you for the dirt we remove and pave all the exposed area free of charge, if we can have it right away. We can't do anything else until we get the dirt in and allow it to settle properly."

The little church was dedicated the next Sunday as originally planned and there were far more members with "mountain moving faith" on opening Sunday than there had been the previous week!

Would you have shown up for that prayer meeting? Some people say faith comes from miracles. But others know: MIRACLES COME FROM FAITH!
