What’s On Your Mind?

For those who use Facebook this is the question you see each time you open this site. Some days it is easy to tell what’s on your mind and some days it is hard. What’s on my mind right now is the word of God.

John 14:1-4

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”

This past week I was at a wonderful (Tennessee COGOP) Convention. It was easy to sit back and enjoy the presence of the Lord and not let our heart be troubled as we were refreshed with singing, preaching, and testimonies. However at the end of the day there were those who perhaps left with a heavy heart over this appointment or some decision.

We may not understand a situation today but we do know that God looks out for us and we understand the way to reach him and continue to be enriched by his presence. John goes on to say in John 14:15-21, 26-27.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also…But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Take a moment now and rejoice in the word of God. It will feed you and the Holy Ghost will lead you and direct you into all truth. This is what’s on my mind, now tell the Lord what is on your mind and receive of Him.

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9

Where He Leads

Yesterday two young men and I spent about two hours putting out some new church signs in our neighborhood. At one of the sites we were unsettle on where to put it and drove on to other sites and came back. As we got out two men approached us and ask us what we were doing. I said we were trying to decide on where to put our sign.

At this point one of them asks about our church and we shared with him and he asks if he would be welcome. I said welcome, yes sir we have services on each Sunday morning. He said I’ll be there Sunday and why don’t you put your sign on my property?

Boy were we excited as we drove away. We have been asking God to open doors in our neighborhood to worship with us. I had to call my wife and my daughter and share with them. We often sing and say “where he leads me I will follow.” I’m learning more each day to trust our Lord and allow him to lead us.

Often we overlook something as simple as putting out a church sign. God works when we see no way. I pray Lord increase my faith, open my eyes that I might see each soul you send my way. It makes me want to sing “Let Your Anointing Fill My Soul.” Sing it with me “Let Your anointing fill my soul. Like a mighty rushing river let it flow. Lord, I give myself completely now, take complete control. Lord, let your anointing fill my soul.”

What are you asking God for today? Is it material, physical, financial, mental, spiritual, family, or etc. If you are giving yourself completely to His control simply receive His anointing and receive what He has for you. His ways are not our ways, you must trust Him and follow where He lead you.

Happy Birthday America

It is great to know God continues to bless America. I am blessed to live in the United States of America. I am proud to be among the majority of Americans that still believe and am not ashamed of “In God We Trust.”

What is America? It is a place where I am free to express myself and lift up my voice to God who made the heavens and the earth. Even though a minority in our country seems to get the headlines with their ungodly thoughts and practices, the majority of us live wholesome clean lives and teach our children to do the same.

In this nation of ours I still proclaim Jesus is the sweetest name I know and I am able to share his love freely when opportunity avails. I am happy I can proclaim Jesus as my Lord and Savior and not have to hide to worship for fear of reprisal. It saddens me when I hear from some of my fellow Christians in other lands who fear for their life when they worship and share the gospel of Jesus. Oh, how I wish you had this same freedom today so you and your families could be safe from harm.

I have mission friends in Honduras right now trying to get out of country because of the political unrest they face. Lord protect them today I pray. I don’t know why God has blessed me to me in America, I could be where you are but I continue to praise my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and want to continue to take advantage of the freedoms I have.

There is an old song I sing “I Wonder Have I done My Best for Jesus.” The second verse says “I wonder have I cared enough for others.” Perhaps that is what today is all about. I want to thank all of you that cared enough to serve in our military and gave some of your life while others that gave all that I might be free. I want to thank all families that sacrificed while these love ones answered the call to see our nation remains free today. You are my heroes!

To the minority who get all the headlines remember you are only able to spout off and live your life style because we as a nation trust in God and as a majority continue to stand for what is ethical, true and right as we seek God for our country. Continue in your ways and you may destroy our freedom as a nation but I for one will continue to lift up the banner and proclaim “One nation under God, indivisible with justice and freedom for all.” Happy Birthday America and I pray “God bless the United States of America.”
