EXPLANATION OF GOD

EXPLANATION OF GOD:

'One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.'

'God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it off.'

'God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting his time by going over your mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.'

'Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista . At least there aren't any who come to our church.'

'Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of him preaching to them and they crucified him. But he was good and kind, like his father, and he told his father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K.'

'His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard work on earth so he told him he didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helps his dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important.'

'You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.'

'You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God!

Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway.'

'If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared, in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.'

'But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.

And...That’s why I believe in God.'

THIS IS FABULOUS!!!

It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA . He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to 'explain God.' I wonder if any of us could have done as well.

(and he had such an assignment, in California , and someone published it, I guess miracles do happen!) Thanks Fran for sharing.

From the mouth of babes we are often taught. As we close a year and start a New Year do you know why you believe in GOD?

CHRISTMAS WITH THE DASHER’S CONTINUES 2010

Well little did I know with my last writing our Christmas would include my mom who has lived independently for 89 years to have a massive stoke and be in the hospital on her birthday. She is unable to speak, opens her eyes very little, paralyzed on her right side, and will be unable to take care of herself. All children and grandchildren have been able to make it to see her save one.

What a prayer warrior, I looked at her prayer list in her home which starts with a picture of all family members she has and said Lord; we will have to continue this for her. She is not only my mom she is a special child of God that touches lives wherever she is. I pray God’s will and with that I am at peace.

So, sorry no cards this year, but mom‘s stoke kind of hampered our efforts. We pray you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Remember to put Jesus first in all you do and be blessed of him. Rejoicing in Him is what makes our Christmas. God is so good, I praise His name today. Thank you for all your prayers.

On the lighter side I will share the following sent my special friend Gerri.

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Holiday spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving Chocolate.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly; it’s rare... You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It will soon be Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Holiday party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it! Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple
, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, please, have some standards!

10. One final tip: Wear sweatpants/loose fitting clothing. If you are leaving the party and you can walk without help from a construction forklift, "you haven't been paying attention, people!" Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate and Pepsi in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas With The Dasher’s

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you are enjoying another December with your family and friends. We started the month with a Vietnam Veterans dinner with some special friends who served our country. Then we picked up with a President Breakfast with some of these same Veterans.

Next we celebrated my wife’s family Christmas with some sixty people. My how God has blessed us this year. Six Children in my wife’s family and for the first time in many years all six came together knowing Jesus as their personal Savior. My brother-in-law danced around the table with his five sisters in celebration. What a wonderful time of love.

I was able to catch a portion of the Children’s program this same night as his children’s band played for their church program. Now I took a break while my wife went to other Christmas gatherings. Oh, yes, we did gather together at some friends home and sang songs of praise as we celebrate Jesus together. We sang to near midnight. Not bad for us ole folks.

Well, it’s off to the great Smokey Mountains for some family time. We slid in on ice and snow and shared some time with my son and wife. We braved the 13 degrees as we had to have a banana split at Mel’s Diner. I went to get us a burger but found everything closed save Krystal which we gladly took to our room to consume.

Now it’s out shopping at 22 degrees and my son and wife have to leave us. Oh, well, here comes my daughter, the ice she was to face traveling didn’t develop until she got here. Up at dawn and off shopping on the icy roads to find many shops closed. Didn’t stop us; we shopped until the rain came and melted the ice and more stores opened. It may freeze tonight but we did our thing today.

Are you bored yet? I will stop for now and let you rest. As you relax remember in all our hustle and bustle don’t forget Jesus. If you know him you are most blessed. If you need him he stands with his arms wide open to welcome you. This would be the best Christmas you could receive and the angels will rejoice in heaven with you. God bless you as you share his love with others this Christmas season. He loves you and waits for you to return your love to him.

THANKS TO MY SPECIAL BROTHER

Thanksgiving has come and gone and no I didn’t forget about it. On the contrary I spent 53 working hours with my brother Quillie doing church and parsonage repairs. He gave of himself to help us and we at Union Grove appreciate it very much. His many talents helped us get several things completed.

And then he preached for us on Sunday and fed us with God’s word. I indeed am blessed to have such a brother. Of course I’m thankful for my other two brothers also as well as all our family. God has blessed us to have families that love the Lord and we take this moment to thank him for that.

My mother, soon to be 89 prays for us each day and has taught us to love God and love people. Her continual example rings out to us each time we see her or talk to her. If something is going on in our lives she always knows and will let you know the Lord brought you to mind so she wants to know what is going on. Her feelings are normally right. She has each family member on her picture wall and calls our name in prayer daily. Thank you Lord. Moms love and care for each of us is truly an inspiration.

Thank you Quillie for taking your extended Thanksgiving weekend to be with us and encourage us to cling to “We will instead of We can.” I’m clinging to a prayer I prayed in July and know God will fulfill the desire of my heart.

Now, back to Ohio and your snow little brother and get those plows out and ready to go. Come see us again and we’ll try to give you a break with no repairs on the table for you to do.

Yes, Thanksgiving has come but it is never gone because I give thanks to God each day. God is so good, how does anyone live without him? If you know Jesus you can experience what I’m talking about. If you need Jesus simply repent of your sins today, ask him into your heart and receive him as your Lord and Master. He awaits your call and is ready to receive you.

Twas the month before Christmas

*When all through our land,*

*Not a Christian was praying*

*Nor taking a stand.*

*See the PC Police had taken away,*

*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*

*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*

*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*

*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*

* December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.*

*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*

*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*

*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*

*Something was changing, something quite odd! *

*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*

*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda...*

*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*

* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*

*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*

*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*

*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty*

*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*

*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*

*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*

*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*

*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*

*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*

* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*

*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*

*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*

*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*

*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*

*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*

*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,

Not Happy Holiday !*

Please, all Christians join together and

Wish everyone you meet during the

Holidays a

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

A special thank you for Paula sharing this with us.
