TEN THINGS YOU CAN DO IF YOU ARE FACING DIFFICULT TIMES...

1. Remain positive and optimistic: (focus on the Lord, not your problem / open the bible and read, meditate, and speak God's promises over your life)
2. Write down 5 things you're thankful for. (you have a lot to be grateful for)
3. Visit or call a friend to pray with and for you (make sure its someone who is positive)
4. Pray. (God is saying to you, "I see you"
5. Exercise. (Take a walk, go to the gym, go mow your lawn, but do something physical!)
6. Watch christian tv and listen to praise music. (yes I said christian)
7. Go do something for someone in need (there is always someone else whose problem is more challenging than yours!)
8. See the Big picture (you might be facing a difficult time right now, but God is working, moving, and bringing you out into a blessed place)
9. Try something new. (do something you have never done before / kayak, painting, gardening, crafts, baking, hiking, swimming, dancing, volunteering, ect
10. Go to church (God never created us to journey alone. Two are better than one / this is a principle of life

NOW, JUST DO IT! (
Picked up from  Greg Ojeda on fb).

A VETERANS MEMORY LANE #81505262013

A VETERANS MEMORY LANE

It’s hard to believe it has been 47 years since I was in boot camp at Ft Knox, KY. I had married the love of my life just a year before and we are now separated by the call of duty to my Country, the good ole U S A. Bravo Company with a Drill Sergeant that had just come back from Vietnam.

Well, here I was 163 lbs soaking wet being drilled to be a soldier and go save my Country. Finishing book camp brought on Advance training which I also completed at Ft Knox.

Now for our first assignment; our Commander announced that we were the first unit that no one was going to Vietnam. Wow! I waited in line that night at the phone booth to call my wife of one year and tell her I was going to Germany. I would see her on the weekend with a two week leave before deploying.

Next morning, bright and early our Commander fell us out and announced everyone with the last name A-D was to fall out for Vietnam orientation. My mouth dropped and I thought, oh, my goodness, I’ll not call my wife on this one. I waited until I got home. To say the least she was shocked when it finally soaked in we will be apart another year.
Our separation and saying goodbye was one of the hardest things in our lives. We will always be grateful for the plane crew at Chattanooga, TN for allowing us a few extra minutes at the gate.

Well, up, up, and away to my new assignment and my first plane ride 12,000 miles away to a place we had only head about on the news.

Space will not allow me to continue but I want you to know I was blessed to know Jesus then and he is sweeter to me today than ever before. God allowed me to serve my country and come home safe. The prayers of my wife, family and friends played a big role in encouraging me while I was away.

I had to cling to God’s word where he said he would never leave me nor forsake me. Life is not always a bed of roses but I want you to know my God is real and he can help you and provide for you today. Give it all, give it all to Jesus and he will show you the way.

Do you know the Lord? Then you need nobody else. If you need the Lord he is ever near. Just call his name and he will answer, the line is never busy so what are you waiting for.

Lord, thank you for this day, thank you for blessing me to know you and still have the love of my life with me after 48 years of marriage. Truly, it gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by. Thank you for your protection and provision. May I never fail to praise you for all you have done.

MEMORIAL DAY USA 2013

Memorial Day is an official holiday in most states of the United States. It is also known as Decoration Day.

The custom of placing flowers on the graves of the war began on May 5, 1866, in Waterloo, NY, and Waterloo has been recognized by Congress as the official birthplace of Memorial Day. In 1868, Gen. John A. Logan, then president of the Grand Army of the Republic, declared that May 30 would be a day to decorate with “flowers the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion.”

After World War I the day was set aside to honor all American wars, and the custom was extended to pay homage to deceased relatives and friends, both military and civilian. The most solemn ceremony conducted on Memorial Day is the placing of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns located in Arlington national Cemetery.

Monday May 26 2013 we will celebrate this day. Many people see it as just a day off; a 3 day weekend. But for those who have lost someone because of war or military action, it means much more than a day off.

In fact, every American ought to recognize this day out of his patriotic duty to his country and in honor of those who spilled their blood to make America what she is today--free, strong, and a nation worth fighting for.

Because men have died for this country, we have the right to preach God’s word freely. We have the right to live at peace in our own homes. We have the right to pursue peace, prosperity and happiness. Thank God for those who died to make us free. (Excerpts from sermon by David Whitten.)

Let us be thankful to God for all he has done for us to have a Country that is free. Also, remember those who paid the price with their sacrifice over the years. and plant us on holy ground.

PEACE IN TIME OF TROUBLE #81305202013

PEACE IN TIME OF TROUBLE

This week was not easy for my sister-in-law as she was heartbroken when God took her husband home.  With family and friends all around she turned and said on Tuesday that about 6:30 there was a peace that came all over her. This peace only comes from God and it thrilled me as she shared it.

In times like these it is wonderful how our family was bound together with love and support. One family member said I’ve never seen a family like this before. He said it wasn’t this way with his family. The example was set before us by Gene and Christine Rominger my precious father-in law and mother-in-law and you could just see their prayers being fulfilled as our family stood by each other.

None of us want to give up a love one but it is precious when we have God to give us strength for the day. Yes, we hurt; we have pain, we cry, we wonder what we are going to do but God speaks peace to us and understands.

Psalm 91:1-2 says He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Do you need the Lord today? Do you have a need? Then, I encourage you to come in faith believing to the Lord and allow him to speak peace to you and comfort your soul.

Even in difficult times it is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto his name. He is faithful, he is ready to lift us up above the shadows and plant us on holy ground.
