Be Steadfast In the Year Ahead

I greet you with Paul’s greeting to the Corinthians wishing you grace and peace from our Lord. Paul started a work in Corinth and continues to teach them the truth of God. Man can get all twisted up and turned around but Paul’s desire was to see them steadfast in their tribulation and suffering.
As you begin 2014 don’t think you are the only one starting the New Year with problems in your life. Things come along to tempt us to listen to false teachers or cause us just to give up on God. Rest assured God will be with you each step of the way.
I know several who have suffered the loss of a loved one recently, others who have a broken marriage, others who have no job to go to tomorrow, others who are on the verge of losing their home and on and on I could go. Then there are others who are depressed, ready to give up on God, confused about what the truth really is and want to just walk away.
Folk’s, life is not always easy and as a child of God we need to cling to the word of God and know good and bad come to everyone. You have the assurance that God will be with you and never forsake you.
Join Paul as you begin this year with the confidence of a good conscious before the world as you walk in simplicity and let your light shine before others that they see God as you face what life brings before you. He is God, he is real, he is alive and you are alive in him. Rejoice, again I say rejoice and be bold in God.
2 Corinthians 1:1-12 (KJV)
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
11 Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
REMEMBER
“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9

CHRISTMAS TIME IS COMING

Twas the Sunday before Christmas when all thru the house not a creature was stirring but the day is about to begin. Its Sunday School time, Worship time, and get up get ready time.

Outside, it is dark, raining, not a pleasant looking day but it’s time to go celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and give praise for his coming to die for our sins and make eternal life available to all who will come unto him.

At our church we will have Sunday School and then we will have family worship together. The tree will be lit and all of our gifts for Christ will be under the tree. You see many years ago we started bringing gifts for Christ and it’s amazing what he receives each year.

Since Christ is not present to open his gifts we normally have our children open them. Some bring cash to help the church, some bring church supplies, and some volunteer to clean the church. It’s doesn’t matter, we just love to watch the glow on the children’s face and one calls out “mom it’s toilet paper.”

I have found many times enough supplies are given to help for months. What a blessing to the church as wel remember it is Christ birthday and He is our King.

Today, my wife and daughter will take charge after I read the Christmas story in Luke Chapter 2:1-20. We will sing, and give each family time around the tree to share life’s story this year. Sometimes we have deaths, sometimes new births, sometimes testimonies of healing, sometimes a new job etc.

This year my testimony is I have my first great granddaughter Lexi Grace. I also want to thank God for blessing me to lose 107 lbs since April. Most of all I want to thank my Lord for blessing me to know him as my Savior.

So, what are you doing today? Please take time for Jesus today and every day for he is the reason living and breathing each day of your life. Celebrate with him and if you don’t know him receive him.

The bible says even the angels in heaven rejoice when one returns to the Lord. It’s quite simple, confess your sins, ask forgiveness, and receive him into your heart. This would be the best gift you could place under the tree.

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?
This is what is on my mind as I awake today.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY
Verse: 1
As I wake up with the morning, of each day that passes by,
and I listen to the sounds upon my ear,
I can’t help but keep a watch toward the eastern sky,
and I wonder if the trumpet will be the next sound that I hear.
Chorus:
What a beautiful day for the Lord to come again,
what a beautiful day for him to take his children home,
how I long to see his face and to touch his nail scared hand,
what a beautiful day for the Lord to come again.
Verse: 2
All my earthly disappointments and my trials here below,
fade away when I remember his last words,
he said he’d return and receive his children unto him
and I’m longing to look upon the face of my dear Lord.
I know it may seem selfish, but I love Jesus and as we celebrate his birthday I just love to sing and think on HIM.
Have a good day in J E S U S.

Lord What Would You Have Me To Say? #83611182013

LORD WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME TO SAY?

I’ve been a little discouraged with my writing and mailing of Surfing with Jesus the last few weeks because of the difficulties I’ve had with format and changes made with the company I use to send it out. But I am determined to get back on track and write.

This is why my topic is “Lord What Would You Have Me to Say?”
Lord I want to take time to thank you for the thousands of friends I have had the opportunity to share your love and your word to as I write. I started writing because I had a need and have ended up being blessed by many folks around the world.

I am thankful, Lord; you have blessed me and fed me thru writing and sharing. I always look forward to it and I am leaning on you as I write this morning. Psalms 121proclaims: (KJV)

121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

I have used this Psalm many times and it is helping me today and I thank God for it. One writer in my Life Application Bible by Tyndale made this comment about this song.

“This song expresses assurance and hope in God’s protection day and night. He not only made the hills but heaven and earth as well. We should never trust a lesser power than God himself. But not only is he all-powerful, he also watches over us. Nothing detracts or deters him. We are safe. We never outgrow our need to God’s untiring watch over our lives.”

Wow, how powerful. As we go our way this week and prepare for another Thanksgiving Holiday this month may we have thankful hearts for all he has done?

One writer put it this way:

“Oh, the best is yet to come when I walk though Heaven’s gate.
The first time I see Jesus I can hardly wait.
He'll show me to my mansion, say child this is your home.
Oh I have a feeling in my heart the best is yet to come.”

Have a great day in the Lord.
