Look Mom! I'm, Home #89905282015

Look Mom! I’m, Home

Look Mom! I’m, home. Yes, after a wonderful glorious month with my lovely bride of fifty years, we are home. What a wonderful month. My dream came true. I enjoyed every minute of it.

My dream was to have a month to do nothing and go to the beach and sit and sit and sit. Weather prediction was as high as 60% rain some days. We were blessed with sunshine and I put my toes in that white sand I grew up with as a child and lived the life of “Riley.”

I want to thank God for blessing us and taking care of us. I want to thank all our friends and family for helping us celebrate as we renewed our vows on our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Thank you for all the gifts we ask you not to bring but we used them to enjoy our trip.

Yes, I still believe marriage is one man and one woman joined together and in spite of those who disagree it is God’s plan. He created it and I’m sticking to it. Believe what you want but you can believe a lie and be dammed. My desire is to make heaven my home and this old world and its vices and devices may deceive you but I’m clinging to God and placing it all under the blood of Jesus.
I love to think on Psalms 121 which reads:

121  I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

So, as Edwina and I continue our journey in this life in Jesus and on God’s green grass and earth, I encourage you to look unto God. How long will this journey last? Only God knows, but I will cherish the old rugged cross until my trophies at last I lay down.

Give it all, give it all to Jesus. He is your fortress; he is your strong tower.

REMEMBER

“If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9

Visibility, One Light Pole

Today I was invited to the men’s fellowship breakfast of a local church. As I started all I could see is heavy fog, I put my lights on and slowly drove and realized my visibility was one light pole at a time.

Some days as we arise and go forth in the Lord we have heavy fog and can only see one light pole away. That is when I realize that in the fog Jesus is there to lead me each step of the way.

We often sing “One day at a time sweet Jesus but today I’m declaring one light pole at a time sweet Jesus that’s all I’m asking from you. It may be fog, it may be rain, it may be sunny but I am assured he will be there with me all the way.

So many people are hurting this week, some have lost love ones, some are battling divorce, some have aches and pains beyond measure and I want to encourage you to lift up your eyes unto Jesus and receive of him as you seek him.

Once again, I ask you to go to the book of Psalms and begin reading. Just read until the Lord speaks to your heart. You will find him in his word and he will lift you up and strengthen you.

Yes, Jesus is the sweetest name I know and he’s just the same as his holy name and that is the reason why I love him so. I pray he will speak peace to your heart tonight and you will rest in him.

Where Is He Now? #89704062015

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
Web Site:  http://surfingwithjesus.org #89704062015

Where Is He Now?

We know he arose so where is He? Jesus is now beginning his last days before us on this earth. He has defeated death and now sets out to teach the disciples and remind them of what he was sent to do and what he leaves for them to do. He has just a few days so he must work quickly before he ascends into heaven.

I wonder if we went about our business as Jesus did with urgency if we would complete more and see more souls instructed in the ways of the Lord. He gave us a tremendous task to reach the whole world with the gospel and point them to Calvary. He even said we would do greater works than he did. That doesn’t seem possible but he said it and I believe it.

Lord as we continue our journey I pray you will direct us to ever be mindful that you are coming again soon. Lord, we want to see more souls receive you and excited about your return.

This week I was at the hospital visiting a family in their sixties that have recently accepted the Lord in their life. It was so thrilling to see the excitement as they talked about the Lord. He wanted to be baptized as soon as he’s out of the hospital. He said he wanted everything complete when he goes to see Jesus.

This same couple would not even talk to you about the Lord just a few weeks ago. When conviction grips your heart and you repent and accept the Lord and are baptized, there is such a change that takes hold of you. I love to listen to a new convert share their love for Jesus.

I’ve always said if we could just maintain the excitement we all had when we first got started on our journey with Jesus we would reach the world so much quicker. So, yes, we rejoice as do the angels because another soul has been snatched out of Satan’s hand.

Makes me want to sing the ole chorus:
Get all excited go tell everybody that Jesus Christ is king
I said get all excited go tell everybody that Jesus Christ is king
Get all excited go tell everybody that Jesus Christ is king
Jesus Christ is still the king of kings
(repeat)

So, as we think about where he is this week let us think about where we are and what we plan to do to share him with others. He is coming soon. Don’t be lulled to sleep and be left with no oil in your lamp.

HE'S ALIVE #89604042015

HE’S ALIVE

The song says he is alive and I am forgiven. I am so thankful Jesus endured the cross so I can have hope of eternal life. Jesus paid it all and I love him so much, how about you?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I believe and he lives within my heart.

I rejoice and celebrate this long sad but joyous week as we remember the agony on the cross but the power in his resurrected body on that third day just like he said. Mankind has never been the same since that day. What a sacrifice, oh what a Savior, oh Hallelujah, makes me want to sing with the angels and proclaim Christ throughout the world.

I want to be able to come to him as a little child, sit in his lap, listen to his voice and gleam from his love as he leads me beside the still waters. Thank you Jesus, what more can I say, you are my all in all.

Do you know Jesus as your Savior and soon coming King? Then, worship with me today and praise his name. Be thankful for all he is doing in your life. If you don’t know Jesus read with me at 1John 1:9: “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9.

Will you now take time for him as he did for you and receive him in your life. This is Easter week, what greater time to rejoice with the angels as you return unto Jesus.
Remember, Jesus is the one, yes, he’s the only one, let him have his way until the day is done and when he speaks you know the clouds will have to go just because he loves you so.

Headed To That Hill Far Away

Some 2000 years ago our Lord and Savior started his journey to that hill far away. What a day as he began his journey entering the city with everyone proclaiming, Hosanna as he rode on a humble donkey and they hailed Jesus with great praise.
Sad, as the week continue how the crowd would change with anger in their hearts and proclaim C R U C I F Y, him until the rulers doing what is politically right would allow them to take him away to be crucified .

Just think as he serves the twelve disciples one of his own with greed in his heart would yield to temptation and allow money to overcome him and betray the very one who came to save him.

Imagine for a moment, you are there that week, where would you be? Would you side with the crowd? Would you stand with Jesus? Would you run and hide for fear they would think you were one of them?

Folks Jesus went to that rugged cross for you and for me. Today we have hope of eternal life when we repent and receive him and walk in the light as it shines on our path. We don’t have to worry because he has paid the price for us.

I want to walk with him today, I don’t want to run and hide, I want to proclaim Jesus is the one, yes, he’s the only one. Will you join me this week in taking a stand for the only peace that one needs and that’s the peace we receive in Jesus?

In spite of what is going on in the ole world, I know everything is going to be alright because God is in control.

Dad Got There Faster

This touched my heart as my daughter gave this prayer request. One never knows when the next inspirational thought will come. In our community recently we had a family of five went on a cruise and the father died of a heart attack. Quite a shock to one and all and although I don’t know them personally my wife tells me they did a lot to help people.

Not sure of the exact age of the one who said this my daughter says but I know the 4 boys are between the ages of 11-19 and it was one of the younger ones. His mother relayed, “This little boy is amazing! I was having one of my little break downs and he says mom remember its like dad’s in an airplane to heaven and we’re in a car. He got there faster but we're on our way just real slow :) he is a child of God.

Wow, that set me back a moment, he is already stepping up to the plate to help mom and he hit a homerun. Sounds like mom and dad have raised their children to love God and know how to find strength in him as they continue their journey.

Some days we think our car is going awful slow but just remember in his word how he feeds the little bird, take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there. There is an oldie that is ever prevalent that goes like this?

Jesus is the One

1When the day is dark before you, And the clouds are hanging low.
There is One who watches o'er you, Ev'rywhere that you may go.

2 Oh, if you are sad and lonely, Life is but an empty tomb.
Breathe a prayer to Jesus only, He will drive away the gloom.

3 When you come to cross the river, He will be your Friend and Guide.
You can live with Him forever, Over on the other side.

Chorus
Jesus is the One, Yes, He's the only One,
Let Him have His way until the day is done;
When He speaks you know, the clouds will have to go,
Just because He loves you so.

Young man, I don’t know you but you spoke to me, I don’t know how or when but I know as a child of God Jesus is the one and I look forward to heaven.

Gleaming from our Mentors #89303102015

Gleaming from our Mentors

I received an invitation to join in the meeting of the GAE (General Appointees Emeriti) for the church at the International Offices (Upper Room Chapel), Cleveland, TN today and it was a thrill to worship with many warriors I have known as I grew up. A special thank you to Gladys Long Scotton for her kind invitation.

God is so good, he still works in and thru us regardless of where our path has taken us and where we are today. The same spirit of God that led these folks over the years leads them today. Young folks you would be blessed to take advantage of picking their brains and grasping the golden nuggets they have to offer.

Allowing these precious leaders to mentor you will enlighten you and enhance your ministry. Everyone needs a mentor, I’m thankful I’ve had several over the years. I remember Bishop John Murphy as I pastored my first church. He became my hero and my spiritual giant and was full of love, care, and wisdom that helped me over the years.

When I was moved from my first church, I remember him saying to me now Bro. Dasher go slow at your next church. I ask him what he meant. Did I do something wrong? He said no just go slow. So, this stayed on my mind and as I was packing to leave my second church he said, now Bro. Dasher remember to go slow. I said you told me that when I came to this church what are you trying to tell me? I was very sincere and sort of upset.

Well, when I arrived at my third church, I immediately saw things that needed to be changed. Guess what? My mentors words rang out, GO SLOW, and it finally sunk in that these changes need to take place but I need to wait and lead the congregation and allow these changes to become their idea. When I did these changes took place. Why? Because I learned to go slow and allow God to do the work. I got out of the way.

Spirit of God, help me to wait on you, help me to gleam golden nuggets from our wonderful mentors, help me to lean not on my own understanding, help us to trust and obey and acknowledge you are the potter and we are the clay. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy path.

I’m bubbling over in my soul tonight and I thank you Lord for blessing my wife and I today to feast in your presence. Wow, showers of blessings.

Lord I need you to move #89102202025

SURFING WITH JESUS

“Lord I need you to move.”

I picked up this thought from a writing shared by Quinton Williamson that blessed my soul. Have you ever been at the place where you cried out Lord I need you to move?
My heart is heavy as I see the way prophecy is being fulfilled right before my eyes as man and nations turn their hearts away from God. I have never seen so many “Christians” who seem content to go along with the crowd and let whatever will be just happen.

Folks, Jesus is coming again and I believe soon. He instructed us to behold him and look for his return.  It is as though oh well, and take it lightly today. I do not want to be among those who get left behind. Do you?

I think those of us who have heard the gospel time and time again can fall into the web of Satan and not diligently take the signs of the times seriously. We need to keep our lamps trimmed and ready with plenty of oil when he calls us to go home.
That sounds silly preacher. Well, that is just what the devil wants you to yield to, this web he spins will cost your soul as you forsake doing the things you know God would have you do.

If every person that says they believe in God in our community got up today and went to fellowship and worship at their local church there would not be room to hold them. Allow God to heal you from anything that separates you from assembling yourself and having fellowship with Christians. We need each other as we battle the devil and receive our victory in the Lord.

I cry unto you, do not let Satan spin a web around you that will cost you your soul. Folks, HELL is real, a place to miss, a place to shun. Likewise, HEAVEN is real and a place you want to go and hear Jesus say well done thou good and faithful servant.
I say unto you with all my heart, go forward with God. The song says souls are dying, men are crying for the want of someone to lead them to the cross. Will you take up your cross and follow HIM?

The God of Peace
Philippians 4:8-9 (KJV)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

I want more of the God of peace. Man continues to mess up God’s plan. How can you alter a perfect plan and make it better. This world needs us to be true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and have a good report. Man is crying out for virtue and we need to live it and give praise to God.

God is the only one worthy of praise but when you see these things lived before your eyes it is something to give praise for. As educated, intelligent, and smart as you may think you are you need the knowledge and wisdom to know who God is and where you are in his plan.

He’s got the whole world in his hands, he’s got the whole wide world in his hands he’s got the whole world in his hands he’s the whole world in his hands. We sang it as kids but have we forgotten what we learned, what we received and what we heard?

God I seek your peace today, in the midst of the storm on this earth I seek you and want to be in your hands.

What Is Death All About #98202012015

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
Web Site:  http://surfingwithjesus.org    #89203012015

What Is Death All About

This week I have had a subject on my mind no one wants to think about much less talk about, DEATH

A Post by my friend Danny Rogers Feb 28 2015 said in Today's Thought:

Many today are like the people of Isaiah's time in that that they do not want to hear the truth if it is unpleasant, only those things that will make them feel good about themselves. "That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the law of the Lord; who say to the seers, 'Do not see' and to the prophets, 'Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.'" Isaiah 30:9-10 NKJV

What is death all about? Well you quit breathing, there is no life, and you die. We have an appointment to keep. Everybody WILL keep this appointment:

Join me in Hebrews 9:27-28

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Man does not want to hear this because it brings him into account for his life. He prefers to go his own way and do his own thing. Man fears death but rest assured you need have no fear with Jesus in your life. Yes, it’s that simple, God provided a plan thru his son Jesus dying on the cross for your sins. I close each week with the answer from God’s word.

1John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Lester Roloff put it this way I’ll promise you that if the rapture takes place five minutes from now, you will be ready for it and be in it.

People say, "Look what you’ve missed." I know. I’ve missed being a drunkard. I’ve missed being a dopehead. I’ve missed dying before I reached fivescore years. I missed the Devil’s alphabet and his language. I’ve missed the sorrow, the heartache, the loneliness of a broken home. There are a heap of things I’ve missed, and I appreciate missing them.

With death we have victory, “Victory in Jesus, my Savior forever.” Will you receive God’s word today?

BE MINE #89002142015

Be Mine

As we enjoy this another Valentine season, I believe the Lord would say to us, BE MINE! Can you let that sink in a moment and think on how you can be HIS? Can you follow the Commandments”
Question: "What is the greatest commandment?"

Answer:
Jesus was asked this very question by a Pharisee who was considered to be “an expert in the law” (Matthew 22:34–36). Jesus answered by saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37–40).

Jesus gives us two commandments that summarize all the laws and commands in Scripture. The Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 deal with our relationship with God and then our relationship with other people. One naturally flows out of the other. Without a right relationship with God, our relationships with others will not be right, either. The cause of the world’s problems is that man needs to be reconciled to God. We will never love our neighbor as ourselves if we do not first love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. All of man’s best efforts toward world peace will fail as long as men are living in rebellion against God.

Once again I declare God wants us to get hold of this simple Valentine message we see on candy “BE MINE.” Will you do it? Jesus is the sweetest name I know and he loves us when we are weak and when we are strong. Have a good day.

Are you ready for the real Super Bowl? He Could Come

SURFING WITH JESUS
Pastor Gene A. Dasher, Sr.
Web Site:  http://surfingwithjesus.org    #88802012015

Are you ready for the real Super Bowl? He Could Come

Today many will skip church and get ready for the big event, the Super Bowl. Those that do go to church will be asking Seahawks or Patriots? Even if you are not a football fan, you have heard it until you are tired of hearing it. Regardless of whether you are interested or not you get caught up with the events of the day.

How many of you are tired of grown men going at it all for a little ball and a trophy or ring at the end of the day?  Are you tired of hearing he cheated, he is a mean player, our defense will show him, their offense is not as good as ours? On and on it goes.

Well what if the Lord came back today? Would we be so caught up with worldly things and not see his return? Do you think it’s time we take the return of our Lord as serious as we do the Super Bowl?

Are souls really dying? Are they really crying, do they want to hear someone proclaim Jesus and share the message of his love with them?
Acts 1:1-11(KJV)
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
What if that was today? Would we be so focused on the Super Bowl of man that we would not see Jesus? Would we be so wrapped up with the excitement of man’s game that our Lord would come and we not see him?
You say preacher that’s not possible? I don’t know Noah, warned them for many years that a flood was coming and only after the door to the ark was shut and the waters begin to rise did they realize it was taking place and it was too late for them.
Matthew 24:36 (KJV)
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Just a portion of today’s sermon.
