BE MINE #89002142015

Be Mine

As we enjoy this another Valentine season, I believe the Lord would say to us, BE MINE! Can you let that sink in a moment and think on how you can be HIS? Can you follow the Commandments”
Question: "What is the greatest commandment?"

Answer:
Jesus was asked this very question by a Pharisee who was considered to be “an expert in the law” (Matthew 22:34–36). Jesus answered by saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37–40).

Jesus gives us two commandments that summarize all the laws and commands in Scripture. The Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 deal with our relationship with God and then our relationship with other people. One naturally flows out of the other. Without a right relationship with God, our relationships with others will not be right, either. The cause of the world’s problems is that man needs to be reconciled to God. We will never love our neighbor as ourselves if we do not first love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. All of man’s best efforts toward world peace will fail as long as men are living in rebellion against God.

Once again I declare God wants us to get hold of this simple Valentine message we see on candy “BE MINE.” Will you do it? Jesus is the sweetest name I know and he loves us when we are weak and when we are strong. Have a good day.

Are you ready for the real Super Bowl? He Could Come

Are you ready for the real Super Bowl? He Could Come

Today many will skip church and get ready for the big event, the Super Bowl. Those that do go to church will be asking Seahawks or Patriots? Even if you are not a football fan, you have heard it until you are tired of hearing it. Regardless of whether you are interested or not you get caught up with the events of the day.

How many of you are tired of grown men going at it all for a little ball and a trophy or ring at the end of the day?  Are you tired of hearing he cheated, he is a mean player, our defense will show him, their offense is not as good as ours? On and on it goes.

Well what if the Lord came back today? Would we be so caught up with worldly things and not see his return? Do you think it’s time we take the return of our Lord as serious as we do the Super Bowl?

Are souls really dying? Are they really crying, do they want to hear someone proclaim Jesus and share the message of his love with them?
Acts 1:1-11(KJV)
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
What if that was today? Would we be so focused on the Super Bowl of man that we would not see Jesus? Would we be so wrapped up with the excitement of man’s game that our Lord would come and we not see him?
You say preacher that’s not possible? I don’t know Noah, warned them for many years that a flood was coming and only after the door to the ark was shut and the waters begin to rise did they realize it was taking place and it was too late for them.
Matthew 24:36 (KJV)
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Just a portion of today’s sermon.

Today Is The Day #88601242015

Today Is The Day

Yes, it is the day one should rise and behold the beauty of the Lord. He is everywhere. He was in the cold rainy weather yesterday and he is in the nice bright sunshine today. Weather is just like your life as it is sometime cold and rainy and sometimes shiny as a new penny.

So, how will you receive it today? Will you accept it and proclaim this is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it or will you look at with drudgery?

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, he changes not, you must decide how you receive it and how you go forth into the day. All of us have moments we go forth with a smile on our face ready to accept any challenge that comes our way. Then, there are moments we see ourselves going forward with our head down and don’t know where to go.

Jesus told us there is not anything placed on us we cannot bear, he said he would be with us and help us each step of the way. He also faced things like we do but he drew strength from our father and made it through. Therefore let us take a read in God’s word for help today. Join me in Psalm 61.

Psalm 61 (KJV)

61 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.
He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

Let us take time today and proclaim this is the day we will go forth in God’s name and let nothing hinder us. Have a good day in Jesus.

         Time Tested Beauty Tips

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed,
and even redeemed.  Never throw away anybody.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.

I was doing a cryptogram yesterday and came across this quote from Sam Levenson, well-known educator, author and talk-show host who died in 1980:Received from my friend Gary Bell

I hope you will all strive to be beautiful. Have a good day and remember to be in church this week.

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

Today I share a writing I’m doing for TNSC Veterans Magazine.

Greetings, my fellow Vietnam Veterans, family, and friends. Wow! Where did 2014 go? It seems like yesterday it began but no 2015 is well on its way. As I look back to 2014 we all had some ups and downs. Some had good health, some had bad and we had far too many leave us.

I am so thankful to have known many of those that left us; we shared together, played together and prayed together. I will remember those time and continue to cherish them.

For those of you that are still with us, there is a reason, sometimes we wonder why we are here but God has a plan and purpose for you. My goal this year is to continue to do all I can for God, our Veterans and fellow man. How about you?

God has been so good to me and I always want to thank him for his love and his tender mercies. Yes, I have aches and pains, and I have ups and downs in life but God is so real I just want to take a moment and remember how good he is to me.

This week with cold weather I was taking my dogs out and I heard this peck, peck, and peck. I kept looking and sure enough there on a tree in my yard was an ole woodpecker working his heart out to survive in this life. What a treat to see God’s creation knowing what to do to survive even under bad circumstances.

I wonder if we took time to remember where we come from and how far we’ve come if we would be encouraged to stick it out and do the best we can to survive. Sometimes it’s hard when we struggle and we wonder about the verse that tells us God will not put more on us than we can bear but he will make a way.

Yes, my God is real and he will not leave you nor forsake you. Place your hand in his hand in 2015 and allow his peace to surround you and help you continue your journey.

The Fence #88701302015

The Fence
I came across this from “No Greater Joy Ministries” and thought you would enjoy it.
There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “you have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.” You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there. Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.
